Im Jahr 2000 entstand die Neuverfilmung Get Carter – Die Wahrheit tut weh mit Sylvester Stallone in der Hauptrolle.

Jack Carter ist ein Gangster aus Newcastle. Nun lebt er in London, arbeitet für Gerald Fletcher und hat eine Affäre mit dessen Geliebter Anna. Zu Beginn des Films kehrt Jack für die Trauerfeier seines Bruders Frank nach Hause zurück. Obwohl Frank angeblich als Betrunkener bei einem Autounfall starb, vermutet Jack einen Mord und macht sich an die Aufdeckung der Wahrheit.

Er mietet sich ein Zimmer in einem kleinen Haus und beginnt mit der Auffrischung früherer Bekanntschaften. Zu diesen gehört auch Franks Frau Margaret und deren Tochter Doreen, die möglicherweise aber auch Jacks Kind sein könnte, da er mit Margaret zu dieser Zeit eine kurze Affäre hatte.

Auf einer Rennbahn trifft er Eric Paice, dem er zu dem Landsitz von Unterweltgröße Cyril Kinnear folgt. Dort trifft er neben Kinnear, der ihm mit Unverständnis begegnet, dessen Geliebte Glenda. Auf dem Heimweg wird ihm von Schlägern aufgelauert. Nachdem er diese besiegt hat, gibt ihm einer den Tipp, sich mit Cliff Brumby zu unterhalten. Im Jahr 1972 bekam der Film eine Nominierung bei den britischen Society of Film and Television Arts Awards in der Kategorie Bester Nebendarsteller (Ian Hendry). Das British Film Institute wählte Jack rechnet ab im Jahre 1999 auf Platz 16 der besten britischen Filme aller Zeiten.

Infiltration/Inflow

Infiltration/Inflow (I/I) causes dilution in sanitary sewers. Dilution of sewage decreases the efficiency of treatment, and may cause sewage volumes to exceed design capacity. Although inflow is technically different from infiltration, it may be difficult to determine which is causing dilution problems in inaccessible sewers. The United States Environmental Protection Agency defines the term infiltration/inflow as combined contributions from both.

Early combined sewers used surface runoff to dilute waste from toilets and carry it away from urban areas into natural waterways. Sewage treatment can remove some pollutants from toilet waste, but treatment of diluted flow from combined sewers produces larger volumes of treated sewage with similar pollutant concentrations. Modern sanitary sewers are designed to transport domestic and industrial wastewater directly to treatment facilities without dilution soccer socks online.

Groundwater entering sanitary sewers through defective pipe joints and broken pipes is called infiltration. Pipes may leak because of careless installation; they may also be damaged after installation by differential ground movement, heavy vehicle traffic on roadways above the sewer, careless construction practices in nearby trenches buy online water bottle, or degradation of the sewer pipe materials. Typical sources include sump pumps, roof drains, cellar drains, and yard drains where urban features prevent surface runoff, and storm drains are not conveniently accessible or identifiable. Inflow tends to peak during precipitation events, and causes greater flow variation than infiltration. Peak flows caused by inflow may generate a foul flush of accumulated biofilm and sanitary solids scoured from the dry weather wetted perimeter of oversized sewers during peak flow turbulence. Sources of inflow can sometimes be identified by smoke testing. Smoke is blown into the sewer during dry weather while observers watch for smoke emerging from yards, cellars all jersey, or roof gutters.

Dilution of sewage directly increases costs of pumping and chlorination, ozonation, or ultraviolet disinfection. Physical treatment structures including screens and pumps must be enlarged to handle the peak flow. Primary clarifiers must also be enlarged to treat average flows, although primary treatment of peak flows may be accomplished in detention basins. Biological secondary treatment is effective only while the concentration of soluble and colloidal pollutants (typically measured as biochemical oxygen demand or BOD) remains high enough to sustain a population of microorganisms digesting those pollutants. Secondary treatment is expected to remove 85 percent of soluble and colloidal organic pollutants from sewage containing 200 mg/L BOD water bottle reusable; but BOD removal by conventional biological secondary treatment becomes less effective with dilution and practically ceases as BOD concentrations entering the treatment facility are diluted below about 20 mg/L. Unremoved organics are potentially converted to disinfection by-products by chemical disinfection prior to discharge.

High rates of infiltration/inflow may make the sanitary sewer incapable of carrying sewage from the design service area. Sewage may back up into the lowest homes during wet weather, or street manholes may overflow.

Smoke test results may not correlate well with flow volumes; although they can identify potential problem locations. Where sewage flow is expected to be relatively uniform, significance of infiltration and inflow may be estimated by comparison of sewage flow at the same point during wet and dry weather or at two sequential points within the sewer system. Small areas with large flow differences can be identified if the sewer system provides adequate measuring locations. It may be necessary to replace a section of sewer line if flow differences cannot be corrected by removing identified connections.

John Schultz (footballer born 1938)

John Schultz (born 28 September 1938) is a former Australian rules football player, who played for the Footscray Football Club in the (then) Victorian Football League (VFL) and is one of the club’s greatest players buy online water bottle.

He had been a champion high-jumper at Caulfield Grammar School, winning the senior high jump at the 1955 Associated Grammar Schools Combined Athletics Meeting (as had South Melbourne’s Jim Taylor in 1948) soccer goalie. He also played for the school’s First XVIII, a team which also contained other future VFL players, Ron Evans of Essendon and Ron Cabble of Hawthorn.

John Schultz was considered a “gentle giant”, known as much for his fairness as for his brilliance. An effective knock ruckman, he was acclaimed for good tackling, elegant marking and hard, fair bumping. Roy Wright, another “gentle giant” and Brownlow medallist, helped him early in his career: “after lining up on Roy Wright in one of my first matches, he came to the dressing rooms after the match and gave me a few hints on things I did and didn’t do right”. Compared with others of his day, Schultz had exceptional stamina and he seemed to be able to run just as quickly at the end of a match as he had at its beginning.

Schultz was recruited by Footscray from country side Boort, having previously played briefly with Caulfield Grammarians Football Club in the Victorian Amateur Football Association (he broke his arm at the opening bounce of the first Caulfield Grammarians’ practice match of the 1956 season).

His VFL career spanned 10 years and 188 games (kicking 39 goals).

Schultz won the Brownlow Medal in 1960 (when only 21 years old) by one vote from Fitzroy’s Kevin Murray. He was Footscray’s best and fairest player five times (1960, 1962, 1964–66). Schultz played for Victoria 21 times, and was an All-Australian in 1961.

Schultz played as an amateur (i bpa free thermos flask.e., he received no payment). He played his entire VFL with the great Ted Whitten as his captain, and retired in 1968, aged only twenty-nine, to help manage the family grocery business. Fittingly for a man who was known for his fairness and never once reported, Schultz later served on the league tribunal. He once said, “I love nothing more than seeing someone shake another player’s hand after a tough game – that’s the ultimate in sportsmanship.”

His younger brother Robert, also from Caulfield Grammar School, played two senior games for Footscray in 1963 clearance football jerseys.

In 2002, he was named to a back pocket of the Footscray/Western Bulldogs Team of the Century.

He was given the honour of handing the Premiership cup to Easton Wood, Luke Beveridge and Robert Murphy after the Western Bulldogs won the 2016 AFL Grand Final.
