In 2004, the Comtech Group (COGO) hired Salen as a consultant for a mobile phone game, and for their online world. The MSN division of Microsoft engaged Salen as a consultant for the redesign of the website in 2004. ATTAP, a group devoted to new web technologies, used Salen as an interactive game designer for their new tools. Salen was also involved in 2005 as a game design consultant with The Rapunzel Project to teach girls computer code.[citation needed] The Buckminster Fuller Institute partnered with the Game Culture & Technology Lab at the University of California, Irvine to create a spaceship earth game, which Salen also worked on in 2005.
From 2004-2006, Mememe Productions in Melbourne, Australia, had Salen design a game for a children’s television show and for their online community site, while from 2005-2006 she worked on the ISEA2006 Symposium in San Jose, California. This was presented by CADRE Interactive City residency. From 2003 until 2009, Salen was the Director of Graduate Students for the Design and Technology Program at Parsons The New School for Design. Salen is currently faculty at DePaul University’s College of Computing and Digital Media in Chicago, USA.
Karaoke Ice
Salen worked on this project alongside Nancy Nowacek and Marina Zurkow in August 2006. The project transformed an ice cream truck into a mobile karaoke unit which roamed the streets of San Jose, California, inviting people towards it with free popsicles. Everyone and anyone was invited to participate in a live karaoke session which would be recorded to be played over loudspeakers later. The songs that were available to sing included “Hey Ya!” by Outkast, “These Boots are Made for Walking” by Nancy Sinatra, and “R.E.S.P.E.C.T.” by Aretha Franklin.
Big Urban Game
Along with Frank Lantz and Nick Fortugno, Salen was asked to help design this large-scale urban game for part of the Twin Cities Design Celebration. All residents were encouraged to participate in the race, the goal of which was to move a 25-foot high inflatable game piece through a route throughout the Twin Cities, hitting several “checkpoints.” Salen created this game to engage a large community with culture and with each other, in an effort to make the residents more aware of urban design.
Waking Life
Salen worked as an animator for this critically acclaimed feature film, directed by Richard Linklater. The film explores topics such as free will, determinism, dreams and the nature of reality.
Institute of Play
Salen is the Executive Director of Institute of Play, an organization that promotes games as a learning tool for the 21st century. Institute of Play has used games, play and the principles that underlie them to design schools, programs, games, events, digital platforms and products. Some projects Institute of Play has produced include Quest to Learn, SMALLab (Situated Multimedia Art Learning Lab) Games, Mobile Quest summer camp, and Gamestar Mechanic Strategy Guide. Institute of Play also produced the video game design lab GlassLab, which is developing game-based assessments in partnership with Electronic Arts and Entertainment Software Foundation.
Quest to Learn (Q2L)
Salen is a designer of Quest to Learn, a public school in Manhattan, New York City created out of a collaboration between Institute of Play and the New York City Department of Education, with backing from the MacArthur Foundation and support from New Visions for Public Schools. The school began in the 2009-2010 school year with one sixth grade class, and will add a new grade every year until 2015, when it will be a fully functioning combined middle and high school encompassing grades 6-12. It is located in the Bayard Rustin Educational Complex in the Chelsea neighborhood of Manhattan.
Q2L’s standards-based curriculum is developed collaboratively by teachers, game designers, and curriculum designers. Curriculum design mimics the design principles of games by framing every piece of the curriculum as a mission that involves game strategies like collaboration, role-playing and simulation. The school encourages hands-on problem solving, and is designed to promote learning of 21st Century Skills many experts say are necessary for college and career success, such as systems thinking

SV Lippstadt 08

SV Lippstadt is a German association football club from the city of Lippstadt, North Rhine-Westphalia.

The two predecessors of the current-day club were both established in March 1908. Borussia Lippstadt was founded 24 March by students of the Gymnasium Ostendorf, while Lippstädter SV Teutonia was also founded sometime late in the month. Teutonia merged with SV Westfalia Lippstadt in 1921 and established a ground at Waldschlößchen that same year. This club played briefly in the top-flight regional league in 1931–33 until a general re-organization of German football under the Third Reich into sixteen first division Gauliga in 1933 saw then shuffled down to second level competition.
Late in World War II Teutonia and SV Borussia Lippstadt played alongside Luftwaffe Sportverein Lipperbruchbaumas as part of the combined wartime side, or Kriegspielgemeinshaft, KSG Lippstadt. This team was inserted into the crumbling first division Gauliga Westfalen/Group 3 but never played a league match as war overtook the area. Following the conflict, occupying Allied authorities ordered the dissolution of organizations across the country, including sports and football clubs.
Both Borussia and Teutonia were re-established as separate sides after the war and in 1957 finished one-two competing against each other in the Landesliga Westfalen (III). Borussia was promoted directly into Verbandsliga Westfalen, while Teutonia also advanced after winning its way through a promotion playoff. Both sides were quickly sent down with the former playing only a single season at that level, while the latter played two seasons. For the most part over the next few decades the two clubs were up and down between the city and district circuits

. Their play has been uneven since their arrival into the country’s highest amateur league. After earning top three finishes in their first two seasons at that level Lippstadt has since generally ended in the lower half of the table, including a close brush with relegation in 2005 but it remained in the league until the Oberliga Westfalen was disbanded in 2008.
Not strong enough to compete in the new NRW-Liga the club played in the Westfalenliga until 2012 when a league championship took it back up to the now reformed Oberliga Westfalen. A league championship in the Oberliga in 2013 earned it promotion to the tier four Regionalliga West but it was relegated from this level after only one season and now plays in the Oberliga again.

, plus he shared the champion handicap male honors with Buckpasser. Also in 1967, Damascus finished third in the 1967 Kentucky Derby. A high-strung horse, he was enervated by the humidity and spooked by the crowd noise, so he was thereafter given a stable pony to calm him. During the same year, top horses Dr. Fager and Buckpasser were also competing. In Blood-Horse magazine’s top 100 U.S. thoroughbred champions of the 20th Century, Buckpasser ranks 14th and Dr. Fager ranks 6th. In a race many consider the “Race of the Century,” Damascus won the 1967 Woodward by 10 lengths over both of these horses after his connections kelme shoes online, as well as those of Buckpasser, used stablemates to set a blistering pace, thus weakening Dr. Fager. Damascus himself ranks number 16 in the Blood Horse listing.

Damascus was owned and bred by Mrs. Edith W. Bancroft, whose father, William Woodward, Sr., owned Belair Stud and won five Belmonts in the 1930s. Edith Bancroft inherited the famed Belair white silks with red polka dots and scarlet cap but never used Belair as a stable name

He bowed a tendon while racing in his second Jockey Club Gold Cup, coming in last, which was the only time in his career he was out of the top three. Whitely then retired him to stud.
In his three-year-old season, Damascus set an earnings record for a single season ($817,941) that held until Secretariat surpassed it almost a decade later.

Muhammadiyah

Muhammadiyah (Arabic: محمدية, followers of Muhammad. full name: Persyarikatan Muhammadiyah) is an Islamic organization in Indonesia. The organization was founded in 1912 by Ahmad Dahlan in the city of Yogyakarta as a reformist socioreligious movement, advocating ijtihad – individual interpretation of Qur’an and sunnah, as opposed to taqlid – the acceptance of the traditional interpretations propounded by the ulama. In recent years Muhammadiyah has been influenced by Wahhabism.
At the moment, Muhammadiyah is the second largest Islamic organization in Indonesia with 29 million members. Although Muhammadiyah leaders and members are often actively involved in shaping the politics in Indonesia, Muhammadiyah is not a political party. It has devoted itself to social and educational activities.

On November 18, 1912, Ahmad Dahlan— a court official of the kraton of Yogyakarta and an educated Muslim scholar from Mecca—established Muhammadiyah in Yogyakarta. There were a number of motives behind the establishment of this movement. Among the important ones are the backwardness of Muslim society and the penetration of Christianity. Ahmad Dahlan, much influenced by Egyptian reformist Muhammad ‘Abduh, considered modernization and purification of religion from syncretic practices were very vital in reforming this religion. Therefore, since its beginning Muhammadiyah has been very concerned with maintaining tawhid, and refining monotheism in society.
From 1913 to 1918, Muhammadiyah established five Islamic Schools. In 1919 an Islamic high school

, Hooge School Muhammadiyah was established. In establishing schools, Muhammadiyah received significant help from the Boedi Oetomo, an important nationalist movement in Indonesia in the first half of the twentieth century, such as in the form of providing teachers. Muhammadiyah has generally avoided politics. Unlike its traditionalist counterpart, the Nahdatul Ulama, it never formed a political party. Since its establishment, it has devoted itself to educational and social activities.
In 1925, two years after the death of Dahlan, Muhammadiyah only has 4,000 members, even has built 55 schools and two clinics in Surabaya and Yogyakarta. After Abdul Karim Amrullah introduced the organisation to Minangkabau dynamic Moslem community, Muhammadiyah developed rapidly. In 1938, organisation claimed has 250,000 members, managed the 834 moques, 31 libraries, 1,774 schools, and 7,630 ulema. The Minangkabau Merchants spread organization to the entire of Indonesia.
During the 1965-66 political turbulence and violence, Muhammadiyah declared the extermination of the “Gestapu/PKI” (the 30 September Movement and the Indonesian Communist Party) constituted Holy War, a view endorsed by other Islamic groups. (see also: Indonesian killings of 1965-66). During the 1998 “Indonesian reformation”, some parts of Muhammadiyah urged the leadership to form a party. Therefore, they – including Muhammadiyah chairman, Amien Rais, founded the National Mandate Party. Although gaining large support from Muhammadiyah members, this party has no official relationship with Muhammadiyah. The leader of Muhammadiyah says the members of his organisation are free to align themselves with political parties of their choosing provided such parties have shared values with Muhammadiyah.
Today, with 29 million members Muhammadiyah is the second largest Muslim organization in Indonesia, after Nahdlatul Ulama.
The central doctrine of Muhammadiyah is Sunni Islam. However, the main focus of the Muhammadiyah movement is to heighten people’s sense of moral responsibility, purifying their faith to true Islam. It emphasizes the authority of the Qur’an and the Hadiths as supreme Islamic law that serves as the legitimate basis of the interpretation of religious belief and practices, in contrast to traditional practices where shariah law invested in religious school by ulema.
Muhammadiyah strongly opposes syncretism, where Islam in Indonesia has coalesced with animism (spirit worship) and with Hindu-Buddhist values that were spread among the villagers, including the upper classes, from the pre-Islamic period. Furthermore, Muhammadiyah opposes the tradition of Sufism that allows Sufi leader (shaykh) as the formal authority of Muslims.
As of 2006, it is said to have “veered sharply toward a more conservative brand of Islam” under the leadership of Din Syamsuddin the head of the Indonesian Ulema Council.
Muhammadiyah is noted as a Muslim reformists organization. Its main activities are religion and education. It has built Islamic schools in modern forms, aside from traditional pesantren. Some of its schools are also open to non-Muslims. Currently there are around 5,754 schools owned by Muhammadiyah.
It has also functioned as a charitable organization. Today it owns several hundred medical clinics and hospitals in Indonesia. Recently it has been active in campaigning about the danger of bird flu in Indonesia.
The national headquarters was originally in Yogyakarta. However, by 1970 the committees dealing with education, economics, health and social welfare had been relocated to the national capital, Jakarta.
Muhammadiyah is supported by several autonomous organizations:
The central committee structure consists of five advisors, a chairman Bogner UK, a vice chairman, a secretary general and some deputies, a treasurer and some deputies, as well as several deputies of chairman.
Muhammadiyah organisation has a number of universities which are spread out in several provinces of Indonesia, such as:
