List of WCW World Television Champions

The WCW World Television Championship was a professional wrestling world television championship owned by the now-defunct World Championship Wrestling (WCW) promotion.

The title was introduced on February 27, 1974 in Mid-Atlantic Championship Wrestling (MACW), a territory of the National Wrestling Alliance (NWA). MACW, also known as Jim Crockett Promotions (JCP), was purchased by Turner Broadcasting System in 1988, and subsequently renamed WCW. In March 2001 goalkeeper gloves junior, certain assets of WCW were sold by AOL Time Warner to the World Wrestling Federation (WWF best soccer gloves, now WWE). As such these assets, including the rights to the WCW World Television Championship, inactive since April 10, 2000, were now WWF property. Before it was known as the WCW World Television Championship (starting in 1991 and continuing until the title’s deactivation), it was known as the NWA Mid-Atlantic Television Championship (1974 to 1977), the NWA Television Championship (1977 to 1985), and the NWA World Television Championship (1985 to 1991).

Being a professional wrestling championship, it was won via a scripted ending to a match or awarded to a wrestler because of a storyline. All title changes occurred at JCP or WCW-promoted events. The inaugural champion was Danny Miller, who defeated Ole Anderson on February 27, 1974, in the finals of a tournament. Booker T holds the record for most reigns, with six. Rick Steamboat’s second reign ended due to vacancy for unknown reasons. The day on which the reign ended is also unknown, although it is known that the reign began on June 10, 1978, and came to a close sometime in 1980. As such, if the reign ended on January 1, 1980, or any later time during 1980, then Steamboat’s second reign is the longest in the title’s history, at over 570 days. Five different reigns are tied for the record for shortest reign in the title’s history, at one day dance team uniforms.

Jim Duggan was the last champion in his only reign elite socks wholesale. At the time, then-champion Scott Hall did not want to be champion, and after unsuccessfully trying to give the title to Kevin Nash, he abandoned the title by throwing the championship belt into a trashcan on the November 29, 1999, episode of one of WCW’s television programs, Nitro. Duggan later found the championship belt in a dumpster on the February 16, 2000, episode of another of WCW’s television programs, WCW Saturday Night and named himself champion. The championship was later retired on the April 10, 2000, episode of Nitro, after a storyline reboot by WCW authority figures Eric Bischoff and Vince Russo. Overall, there were 107 reigns shared among 55 wrestlers, with 11 vacancies.

Types of Muscle Contraction During Running

The movements that take place during activities such a running are due to the contraction of skeletal muscles pulling on bones which move at flexible pivot points, or joints. The several types of contractions that occur within skeletal muscles during running include isotonic concentric and isotonic eccentric contractions. Contractions also occur within your slow twitch and fast twitch muscle fibers.
Muscle contraction involves the interaction of microscopic filaments of actin and myosin within each muscle cell, or fiber, in which finger-like projections on the myosin filament grasp and pull each actin filament. When this contraction results in shortening of the muscle, as in the lifting motion of a biceps curl, it is called a concentric contraction. Contraction that occurs as your muscle lengthens under stress, for example, lowering the weight in a biceps curl, is referred to as an eccentric contraction.
The most typical muscle contractions are those that result in movement such as the shortening movements of muscle in concentric contractions or lengthening in eccentric contractions. Contraction associated with such movement is called isotonic contraction. Imagine trying lo lift an immovable object such as a barbell with 1,000 lbs. of weight. Your muscles would contract, tension would develop but nothing would move and your muscle wouldn’t shorten. This type of contraction, tension without shortening, is called an isometric contraction.
During the running motion, the action of raising your thigh and bending your knee involve concentric isotonic contractions of your hip flexor and knee flexor (hamstring) muscles. As you straighten your leg to push off the ground in the motion that will propel you forward, your hip extensor (hamstrings, gluteus maximus) and knee extensor (quadriceps) muscles are engaged in concentric isotonic contractions
Eccentric isotonic contractions occur most notably during downhill running. During a normal, flat run, the knee extensors or quadriceps muscles contract to straighten your leg. When running downhill, the quadriceps will contract eccentrically as your knee begins to bend after contacting the ground in an effort to prevent your knee from bending too far and too fast. In addition, the tibialis anterior muscle on the front of your shin also contracts eccentrically to control the downward motion of your foot after your heel strikes the running surface.
Each of your muscles is made of a combination of two types of muscle cells, or fibers

, known as fast-and slow-twitch fibers. Fast-twitch fibers are just that, they contract rapidly but are not capable of long endurance. Slow-twitch fibers, while they contract more slowly, can handle endurance events quite easily. When you begin running at a relatively slow pace, you do so using predominantly slow-twitch fiber contractions. As you speed up your pace, your recruit more of the fast-twitch fibers to contract.

What Are the Arm Bands That Football Players Wear?

Armbands are regularly seen on the football field. These are not your traditional wristbands, but rather bands of varying thicknesses and widths that players usually wear on or near their upper arms. Players wear these armbands for fairly straightforward reasons, according to The New York Times.
The mystery behind the armbands are not a mystery at all. ¡°It¡¯s a good look,¡± according to New York Giants linebacker Danny Clark, as quoted by The New York Times. Clark said the bands fall right where he has bulging muscles in his upper arm. The bands undoubtedly call attention to these muscles, the same way earrings make people look or your ears or lipstick makes them notice your mouth

, as does certified athletic trainer Ralph Reiff, who doubles as director of St. Vincent Sport Performance. He told The Times that armbands don¡¯t do anything to enhance the playing ability, the players¡¯ muscles or any other health-related issue. More evidence that the armbands are only for show is the fact that players don¡¯t wear them to practice, only during games when all eyes are on them.
Players wear armbands at different positions. Some, including Clark, wear them in the middle of their biceps. Others keep them right above the bend in the elbow. Some keep them right below it. Still others wear them over long-sleeved shirts rather than flush against the skin. The main key to wearing the armbands is to wear them anywhere around the arm to show off muscles — but not on the wrist.
Stretched-out wristbands may function as armbands, says The New York Times. Makeshift armbands may be made from cut-up socks, strips of stretchy fabric, athletic tape or a section of a too wide and therefore uncool wristband. Armbands usually feature a sweat-absorbing material like a wristband ¨C only a lot bigger. One brand stretches from a slack 9 inches to 21 inches round. Some armbands are reversible, with a dark color on one side and light on the other so players can use them for home or away games. The armbands often have logos visibly displayed, encouraging fans to purchase that company’s products.
