About this deal

The T-Touch series is one of Tissot's most successful collections, spanning over five generations. Current T-Touch models are solar-powered and can connect to your smartphone via Bluetooth. Tissot produced the first edition of the T-Touch in different sizes and materials. You can choose from watches with diameters between 38.5 and 42.7 mm in stainless steel or titanium. These watches offer the same features.

Tissot recently unveiled the a high-performance tactile watch for divers. The SEA-Touch by Tissot uses patented technology to ensure that this watch for divers maintains its high performance at all levels – above and below sea level. Right down to a depth of 200 meters, wearers literally have the sophisticated functionality of this high-tech diving watch at their fingertips. One example is the ref. T33.7.898.92. At the heart of this 42.7-mm titanium watch is the ETA quartz caliber E40.305, which provides the watch with functions such as a chronograph, an alarm, an altimeter, a barometer, a thermometer, a compass, and, of course, an analog time display. To display the corresponding information, the T-Touch uses the hands of the watch as well as a single-line LCD in the lower part of the dial. You call up the individual functions by tapping the touch-sensitive spots on the edge of the sapphire crystal. The three push-pieces on the right side of the case allow you to delve deeper into the features; for example, to set an alarm or start the various chronograph modes. The dial is surrounded by a rotating compass bezel. In automatic dive mode the watch automatically switches to dive mode when you are about one and a half meters under water. This seems to only effect the dive time. You can later use the log functions to recall info about your last dive. Also, while understand some, but not all of the features are usable. I do like that you can use the compass underwater though! For those who dive this info is all great. For those who don’t, you can at least be prepared if someone ever pushes you into a pool.

All T-Touch watches are quartz-powered, analog timepieces. The lower half of the dial is reserved for the additional functions. All models in this series have three push-pieces on the right side of the case, which you can use to activate and control the touch functionality. In 2014, Tissot unveiled the T-Touch Expert Solar. As the name gives away, this timepiece has solar cells to harness solar power. Once the watch is fully charged, it can run for up to one year thanks to the ETA solar caliber E84.301. The range of functions this movement offers has once again grown considerably compared to previous calibers. The altimeter, for example, is now able to record differences in altitude – great for when you're out in the mountains. The chronograph now has a logbook function for lap times, and you also get a regatta timer and charging indicator. Using the movement is rather straight forward once you get used to it, and people with experience using other T-Touch watches will be right at home. For those who are new to the T-Touch, you need to press the center pusher on the side of the case to active the screen so that you can activate most of the functions. The dive functions are tough to explain thoroughly but make sense. There are two basic dive modes, manual and automatic. In manual mode you tell the watch that you are about to dive by activating the “Dive” function. The watch knows when it touches water and the dive time counter begins. The watch hands turn into the depth gauge using the bezel as a scale. The minute hand will show you your maximum depth while the hour hand indicates your current depth. You will find listings for these watches on Chrono24 for around 350 USD. If you opt for a stainless steel version, prices will drop to roughly 320 USD. T-Touch II and T-Touch Expert Tissot presented the first T-Touch model in 1999. The watch sent ripples through the watchmaking industry; it offered the possibility to control various functions like an altimeter, compass, and perpetual calendar just by touching the sapphire crystal, long before tech giants such as Apple and Samsung presented their own smartwatches. The traditional watchmaker from Switzerland thus spearheaded the market for watches with touch screens.

The newest and most modern T-Touch is the T-Touch Connect Solar released in 2020. Again, this model is solar-powered. What is new, however, is the fact that you can connect it to your smartphone. This gives you an even wider range of functions at your fingertips, including a step and calorie counter, as well as incoming call and push notifications. The watch displays the information on a color memory-in-pixel display in the lower third of the dial. I’ve come to accept that fact that I’ll never really use the Tissot Sea-Touch watch to its full capacity. With at least a third of its features specifically made for underwater use, the dive instrument is but a dry reminder of where it wants to actually be while on land. That actually isn’t bad, if you like the functionality of the Sea-Touch as a lifestyle item then you have quite watch. This isn’t just a dive watch, this is a dive watch that really wants to dive – and that has to do with some of the computerized diving functions. The Sea-Touch is also very attractive, and it happens to position itself between pure diving computers and sophisticated Swiss timepieces. From a function perspective you get a lot with any T-Touch family watch. Inside are Swiss quartz movements specially developed for Tissot by ETA. The combine an analog dial with a LCD screen. To operate the movement there are three pushers (rubber coated on this watch) as well as use of the receptive sapphire crystal. Inside the Sea-Touch is the ETA 48.301 movement which is a variation of the other T-Touch movements. To incorporate the diving features, some others have been removed that you can find on other watches such as the T-Touch Expert or T-Touch II. The Sea-Touch features include (in short): the time, second timezone, perpetual calendar, alarm, chronograph, temperature, compass, dive time meter, depth gauge, and logging functions. If you really want to know more about the movement’s features and operation you can access the official Tissot Sea-Touch Instruction Manual here.
